Ted Baker has appointed HR expert\u00a0Helena Feltham as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 May<\/strong>. Her appointment comes as the company vowed to shake up its HR practices following the accusations of \"forced hugging\" by former CEO Ray Kelvin who has since left the business.<\/p>\n Feltham has over 30 years' experience in retail and human resource leadership.<\/strong> She was formerly People Director at B&Q and, prior to that, held the role of human resources director at Jack Wills, Marks & Spencer, Topshop and Woolworths South Africa.<\/p>\n She has also spent a number of years of her career in executive search with Odgers Berndtson, covering senior appointments across both public and private sectors and is a serving director and trustee of The Retail Trust<\/strong>, as well as as a Justice of the Peace and independent adviser to the National Assembly of Wales.<\/p>\n David Bernstein Executive Chairman at Ted Baker said of her arrival:\u00a0\"We are delighted that Helena is joining us at this important time for the business.<\/strong> Working with the Board, Helena's support and insight on implementing the recommendations from the independent HR policies and procedures review will be of great value.\"<\/p>\n Feltham added: \"Ted Baker has great people who have an obvious passion for what they do. I am really looking forward to working with the Board and the wider team.\"<\/p>\n Ted Baker recently announced the conclusion of an investigation into harassment allegations levelled <\/strong>Kelvin, the founder of the business, which identified \u201cseveral areas for improvement\u201d in its HR practices.<\/p>\n Following the allegations Kelvin took a leave of absence at the end of last year and stood down in the new year.
