{"id":161066,"date":"2019-03-18T14:00:10","date_gmt":"2019-03-18T14:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/slipper-brand-mahabis-appoints-former-moonpig-md-as-new-ceo\/"},"modified":"2021-08-12T13:55:25","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T13:55:25","slug":"slipper-brand-mahabis-appoints-former-moonpig-md-as-new-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/slipper-brand-mahabis-appoints-former-moonpig-md-as-new-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"Slipper brand Mahabis appoints former Moonpig MD as new CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former boss of Moonpig has been <strong>appointed to lead upmarket slipper brand Mahabis,<\/strong> which was bought out of administration in January. <strong>Iain Martin will take over<\/strong> from interim chief executive James Cox from Monday.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->He was previously managing director at online gifts and cards retailer Moonpig for nine years from 2006, during which time he oversaw its \u00a3120m sale to PhotoBox Group.<\/p>\n<p>He has been brought on board to take over day-to-day running of Mahabis, the luxury slipper that made its name appealing to comfort-conscious millennials and <strong>selling almost a million pairs in four years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The brand ran into trouble at the end of last year and collapsed into administration, but was<strong> bought out in January by YYX Capital<\/strong> \u2013 the boutique investment firm led by Simba Sleep co-founder James Cox.<\/p>\n<p>Cox has been acting as interim chief executive since the acquisition, but will hand over the reins to Martin as of Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIain has a wealth of experience gathered from more than 20 years in senior commercial, marketing, operational and technical roles, spanning large and small scale businesses,\u201d said Cox. \u201cWe\u2019re <strong>delighted to have such a high calibre CEO on board<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cIain\u2019s solid track record of devising and delivering growth strategies, scaling teams at pace, whilst simultaneously nurturing collaborative and positive team cultures gives us absolute confidence that he is <strong>the right person to further grow Mahabis globally, and at speed<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new owners of Mahabis told the Press Association in January that there was potential for it to become a \u00a3100m business, and <strong>could even mimic the success of Ugg<\/strong> \u2013 the Australian shearling boot company.<\/p>\n<p>Martin said the brand already has good recognition globally, priming it for growth.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a high margin product category with a large addressable market, both online and offline,\u201d he said. \u201cI can\u2019t wait to help propel the brand in new and exciting directions.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":42,"featured_media":133680,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,9762,6,10494],"tags":[14166,12332,12451,14167,13909],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Slipper brand Mahabis appoints former Moonpig MD as new CEO - TheIndustry.fashion<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"A former boss of Moonpig has been appointed to lead upmarket slipper brand Mahabis, which was bought out of administration in January.
