{"id":159681,"date":"2018-01-19T11:51:03","date_gmt":"2018-01-19T11:51:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/uk-retailers-help-small-charity-reach-10m-milestone-by-donating-overstocks\/"},"modified":"2021-08-12T13:51:57","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T13:51:57","slug":"uk-retailers-help-small-charity-reach-10m-milestone-by-donating-overstocks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/uk-retailers-help-small-charity-reach-10m-milestone-by-donating-overstocks\/","title":{"rendered":"UK retailers help small charity reach \u00a310m milestone by donating overstocks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Borehamwood-based charity which <strong>sends overstock products donated by UK retailers<\/strong> to vulnerable communities around the world says it has now donated \u00a310m of goods to more than 1m people in need.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/goodsforgood.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Goods for Good<\/a>, which started three years ago, has co-ordinated donations from <strong>65 UK companies, including DUNE, Harrods and Next,<\/strong> sending 200 consignments to 12 countries including Ukraine, Moldova, Syria, Kurdistan, the Philippines, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Rosalind Bluestone said that, while the milestone was significant, more stock was needed: \"We reached a milestone, but there are many more people that urgently need our help. <strong>To think of mothers without blankets or nappies for their babies is unimaginable.<\/strong>\"<\/p>\n<p>She added that those donating were not only helping individuals in need but also supporting the environment. \u201c<strong>Instead of sending these goods to landfill, they go to children and their parents<\/strong> in desperate need of the basics to live,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Goods for Good, which is a registered charity, has now <strong>set its sights on achieving \u00a325m worth of goods donated by 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":131497,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,10494],"tags":[10571,12495,12330,12653,3760,3683,4039],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.7 -
