{"id":158827,"date":"2017-02-23T09:48:26","date_gmt":"2017-02-23T09:48:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/alexa-chung-fashion-label-backer-is-revealed\/"},"modified":"2021-08-12T13:44:58","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T13:44:58","slug":"alexa-chung-fashion-label-backer-is-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theindustry.fashion\/alexa-chung-fashion-label-backer-is-revealed\/","title":{"rendered":"Alexa Chung fashion label backer is revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the UK's most successful investors and entrepreneurs <strong>Peter Dubens has been revealed as the financial backer of Alexa Chung's highly anticipated fashion label<\/strong> which is due to launch this spring.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>When Chung\u00a0announced last year that she would be launching her label, called <strong>Alexachung<\/strong>, she declined to reveal the identity of her financial backers but Dubens has confirmed it is him in an interview with the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2017\/02\/21\/fashion\/london-fashion-week-alexa-chung-oakley-capital.html?_r=0\">New York Times<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Dubens is the co-founder and managing partner of Oakley Capital Private Equity and has invested personally, as well as\u00a0through his venture capital fund, Pembroke VCT, in a number of businesses including <strong>Bella Freud\u2019s fashion label<\/strong>, having been introduced to both Freud and Chung by British model and <em>Vogue<\/em> contributor Laura Bailey.<\/p>\n<p>Bailey told the<em> New York Times<\/em> said Dubens wasn't necessarily drawn to fashion in particular but\u00a0he had\u00a0\"<strong>a very big feel for talent and marketing and potential<\/strong>\". While Dubens himself was keen to stress, lest other designers seek him out, that he wasn't interested in making any further investments in the sector. \"<strong>I don\u2019t personally make investments in smaller companies any more<\/strong>,\" he said. \"Alexa is my last one.\"<\/p>\n<p>The Alexachung label will be positioned in the premium contemporary space with T-shirts priced at around \u00a380-\u00a3100 moving up to\u00a0around \u00a3650 for a jacket.
