Why The Handbag Clinic is committing to Selfridges with preloved pop-ups across UK
The Handbag Clinic, the handbag restorer and luxury reseller, is expanding its partnership with Selfridges, bringing pop-ups to Birmingham and Manchester later this month.
You may have recalled The Handbag Clinic opening up a concession at Harrods' hallowed halls back in 2023, which closed after 6 months. The luxury reseller switched things up, opening a permanent in-store concession at the rival luxury department store, Selfridges London, in April 2024.
According to The Handbag Clinic’s CEO and co-founder, Charlotte Staerck, "After launching The Handbag Clinic’s permanent home in Selfridges London’s Reselfridges in March 2024, we evaluated our retail portfolio and felt that Selfridges – with its exceptional commitment to circularity – is much more aligned with our proposition."
Now, it is bringing its circular offering of ‘Buy, Sell, Restore, Authenticate’ to Selfridges Manchester Trafford on 21-23 March, followed by Selfridges Birmingham on 28-30 March.
The Handbag Clinic’s pop-up, set within the Reselfridges edit, will showcase the "ultimate next-level circularity model" from buying to selling and even restoring preloved pieces. So, why not unlock the power of your wardrobe?
Shoppers are invited to trade in their unwanted luxury handbags, regardless of where they were purchased, in exchange for a Selfridges gift voucher to spend in-store.
It will also stock a handpicked collection of fully authenticated, preowned luxury handbags from coveted brands including Fendi, Balenciaga, Chanel and more. Plus, for any purchases at the pop-ups, customers can take advantage of The Handbag Clinic’s ‘Circle Back’ programme – guaranteeing a buy-back for up to 12 months post-purchase.
Repair and restoration services are also available, spanning all luxury leather goods from handbags to trainers and even leather clothing. Prices start from £95 for minor stitch work and go right through to £600+ for more complex restorations.
Staerck said: "We are so excited to be building on our partnership with Selfridges to bring The Handbag Clinic to an even wider community of luxury enthusiasts.
"Manchester and Birmingham are two of the most exciting shopping destinations in the UK and home to discerning communities of luxury investors. They understand that true circularity begins with what we already have in our wardrobes. By repairing these items and prolonging their lifespan, or by trading them in, they can continue to get their newness fix whilst being kind to their wallets and the planet."
The Handbag Clinic operates through its e-commerce platform and in-store concessions across London, Newcastle, Colchester and York as well as at Selfridges London.
