What next for Wang?

His tenure at Balenciaga may have come to an end but this could just be the start for New York's cool kid designer Alexander Wang.

Departing the Paris-based house could just give him the freedom and time he needs to continue the development of his own sport- and street-inspired brand and there would be no shortage of collaborators, in and out of fashion, who would be keen to work with him.

The world's leading trend forecaster WGSN put the question of his future to its senior team and all were united in seeing a bright future. Question is where?

The problem with Wang - and it's a high-class one - is that he can turn his hand to anything: high-street, sport, street, couture, technology, lifestyle... heck, he could even get into publishing or film, so says WGSN Chief Creative Officer, Catriona McNab.

“I think he should make a film and write a book, he is an extraordinary talent with much to say, yet still so unknown by most consumers,” she says.

Find out what the rest of the team think at the new WGSN Insider blog.

Disclosure: The Industry's managing director Lauretta Roberts is also director of brand & propositions at WGSN.
