Natural beauty brand Weleda has signed a long-term lease for a 23,500 sq feet warehouse and office facility at Etiquette Park in Ilkeston in Derbyshire, as it also announces an expansion of its retail store.

Founded in Switzerland in 1921, Weleda emphasises the importance in ensuring that its supply chains are both environmentally and socially sustainable. Its British business was set up in 1925 and it has grown since then in Ilkeston.

On 7 June it is planning to open a new, more spacious Wellbeing store in the town at their headquarters on Heanor Road. Its design will be inspired by the brand's 13 acre organic herb gardens up the road at nearby Shipley. The store is the only location in the UK where customers can find Weleda’s full range of 120 natural and organic cosmetics and the 50 herbal and homeopathic medicines.

Weleda, which is still privately owned by its founding family, also became B-Corp Certified in November.

Jayn Sterland, Managing Director at Weleda UK, said: “We are excited to be expanding our existing operations at Heanor Road with a brand-new warehouse and office space at Etiquette Park, which will be tailored to meet our very individual needs.

“As a manufacturer of natural and organic cosmetics and holistic wellbeing products, it is essential that our stock is stored in very specific conditions which meet GMP standards. The new build will allow us to grow our business whilst remaining in the area where our manufacturing site and Demeter-certified organic medicinal herb gardens are also based.

“The new facility means our Customer Care team can also relocate to Etiquette Park, which will in turn free up space for us at Heanor Road to enable us to expand the rest of our operations as we grow.”
