Designer and co-founder of multi-charity pre-loved fashion retailer Charity Super.Mkt, Wayne Hemingway, has been announced as a key speaker at the upcoming Manchester Fashion Week.

Described as a “three-day celebration of conscious fashion” and running from 9-11 September, the newly revealed schedule for Manchester Fashion Week, which is making its return after a 10-year hiatus, also includes an exclusive industry breakfast hosted by Eco Age on 9 September.

That will be followed on day one – which is going under the title of ‘Heritage & Future-Proof’ - by circular fashion discussions and workshops on greenwashing with UN sustainability experts.

The first day will conclude with the launch of a book called ‘The Nature of Fashion’ by co-founder of Fashion Revolution and League of Artisans, Carry Somers, at Waterstones in Manchester.

Day two will focus on ‘Eco-Systems & Outerwear’, exploring British textile heritage with a ‘Fabric of Britain’ panel, which will also celebrate local design talent. Wayne Hemingway will make his appearance at a public event called ‘Future Fashion Fare’, including an evening conversation with DJ Paulette.

The third and final day will come under the banner of ‘Fashion Tech & Innovation’, positioning Manchester as a fashion tech leader with panels featuring innovators from Circkit, UGENIE, Nanoloom, CIFR, and VOXELO, concluding with ‘The Club PreLoved’ runway show for conscious brands, with an emphasis on emerging northern designers.

Gemma Gratton, Executive Producer of Manchester Fashion Week, said: “This schedule represents Manchester's DNA – innovative, inclusive and unafraid to challenge the status quo. We're not just showing fashion, we're reshaping how the industry thinks about creativity, community and consciousness.”

Carry Somers commented: “Fashion needs a radical transformation, rethinking the systems on which it is built. The rebirth of Manchester Fashion Week offers a space to confront the realities of our industry while celebrating the creativity that can drive genuine change.”

John Higginson, CEO of Eco Age, added: “The breadth of this programme proves Manchester is ready to lead global conversations about fashion's future. From heritage craftsmanship to cutting-edge technology, this schedule offers something for everyone invested in fashion's evolution.”
