#WattsWhat: Brandwatch: Hawksmill Denim Co

Anyone who has hit the fashion press day trail will tell you that it’s a marathon and not a sprint. But the upside is that on occasion you come across some new brands that warrant your attention. Exhibit A is new premium denim brand Hawksmill Denim Co.

Hawksmill is a British “new heritage” brand that embraces skill and craftsmanship by using 14oz organic Japanese selvedge denim (from Kuroki Mills), Italian fabric washing and quality manufacturing.

Good fit and longevity are the core principles behind this brand, added to this is an historical construction method with “Union Special” machines which brings a rather cool DNA to the mix.

Its founder and chief creative is Fraser Trewick, possibly a denim “die-hard”! Trewick spent 10 years with Urban Outfitters’ senior buying team and had a stint running his own sales agency working with Swedish denim hero Nudie Jeans. He decided to put all of that knowledge, skill and experience to the test, embraced his passion for denim workwear, and launched the Hawksmill Denim Co.

The SS16 collection comprises of classic five-pocket fits from Loose Tapered to Slim Straight. Jackets come in classic denim workwear styles in organic denim and Japanese Kimono fabrics.

Hawksmill Denim Co, is available from Oi Polloi, Selfridges and End Clothing.
