Last night in New York H&M and Kenzo staged a show to officially launch their collaboration, KENZO x H&M, which hits 250 H&M stores globally on 3 November and is unlikely to stay in store for very much longer after that date.

Jean Paul Goude directed a high energy show set to a remix of "Express Yourself" by Sam Spiegel in which dancers, beatboxers, whistlers and musicians came together "to celebrate the beauty and power of individual expression". The audience was also treated to a set by rapper Ice Cube.

The collection was heavy on animal print (in this case Kenzo's signature tiger stripe), florals, stripes, faux fur and bright colour. Its youthful appeal will no doubt be a hit with the H&M trend-led shopper and with those who only turn out for the regular designer collaborations, which have in the past included Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant and Karl Lagerfeld.

Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim said: "[Last night] was a celebration of everything we love about KENZO x H&M – it was a fun, vibrant and unexpected celebratory mix of different worlds coming together. It was a show we will never forget."
