Walpole reveals shortlist for 15th annual awards
Mulberry, Burberry, Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo, Charlotte Olympia, Erdem and Anya Hindmarch are among the big British fashion names to have made the shortlist for the 2016 Walpole British Luxury Awards, which take place next month.
Now in their 15th year the awards were conceived by the luxury industry body to honour those who demonstrate excellence in the luxury sector within Britain, which it says now contributes £32bn to the economy.
The ceremony spans all sectors of the luxury sector and the shortlist is divided into 10 categories including British Luxury Brand of the Year, Cultural Experience, Craftsmanship, Luxury Manufacturing, Digital Innovation, Champion of British Luxury Overseas, and Champion of British Luxury Sustainability.
This year's judges included Harrods managing director and chairman of Walpole Michael Ward, Lucia van der Post, GREAT Britain Campaign head of brand & partnerships Sarah Anderson, Peter Ting, Gillian de Bono of the FT's How to Spend It, restaurateur Marcus Waring and Richard Carter of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
Walpole CEO Michelle Emmerson said: "This year’s shortlisted brands are the most exciting and pioneering companies and individuals from across the luxury sphere and it’s an honour to celebrate their significant achievements at the 2016 Walpole British Luxury Awards."
