Vintage jewellery curator Susan Caplan launches couture collection for John Lewis

Luxury vintage jewellery expert Susan Caplan has announced a curated collection of vintage couture jewellery for British retailer John Lewis.

The collection, which launches online in February, will comprise of 30 pieces sold exclusively with John Lewis, including necklaces, earrings, brooches and bracelets from luxury designers Chanel, Christian Dior and Givenchy from the 60s to 90s.

Caplan has provided vintage jewellery to John Lewis for over 20 years however this launch marks the first exclusive range of high-end, couture designer pieces, specifically sourced for today's aspirational John Lewis customer.

To curate the new unique collection, Caplan has used her knowledge as a market leader and her black book of contacts to source jewellery from all over the world dating from the late 60s to the early 90s.

John Lewis reported that it has seen a 15% increase in sales of vintage jewellery over the last 3 years, acting as the catalyst for the new partnership. According to Caplan, when curating this collection, she sought to include jewellery that was incredibly wearable both during the day and in the night whilst "continuing to be understated, timeless and elegant".

Susan Caplan continued: “Vintage fashion is here to stay. It is the sustainable way forward and it is what the consumer wants now. The pieces I selected for the final collection are both iconic in their design whilst still remaining elegant and timeless ensuring the jewellery can be worn for years to come. The meticulous craftsmanship that is synonymous with luxury French fashion houses is evident in each necklace, bracelet, brooch and earring.”
