Versus Versace has today revealed a major collaboration with popstar ZAYN who will design a collection for the brand and become the face of its upcoming advertising campaign.

ZAYN (Malik formerly of boyband One Direction and now a solo artist) will design a capsule collection for Versus which will debut in-store globally and on its website at the beginning of May 2017.

The ZAYN X VERSUS collection will be developed in close collaboration with Donatella Versace and will be shown to press and buyers at a presentation next spring. A percentage of the proceeds of the collection, which will include men's and womenswear, will be donated to charity.

In addition, ZAYN will star in the next two Versus advertising campaigns; the first, for the SS17 collection, which will debut in February 2017, and the second which will appear later in the year.

“ZAYN is one of the most exciting personalities on the world stage right now. When we first met, he told me how much he loves fashion. I thought it would be fantastic to collaborate on a new Versus collection together. And, given ZAYN’s huge fan base around the world, I expect there will be a lot of excitement about what we create together," said Versace of the collaboration.

ZAYN added: “I think Versus has always been a very cool brand. It’s a great brand for me and for people in my generation. I’ve always wanted to design clothes, and there’s no brand I’d rather design for than Versus. The bonus is that I get to collaborate with Donatella, whom I love and admire. I know we’ll create something amazing.”

Versus is the younger sister label to Versace. Until earlier this year it was headed up by creative director Anthony Vaccarello who left to take up the head designer position at Yves Saint Laurent, following the departure of Hedi Slimane. Vaccarello showed his first Yves Saint Laurent collection at Paris Fashion Week last month.
