Vans introduces Eco Theory collection

Vans has launched its most sustainable versions to date of its classic ‘Old Skool Decon’, ‘Sk8-Hi Tapered’ and ‘Authentic’ shoes, called the Eco Theory collection.

Leading the way is the ‘Old Skool Decon’, which comes in four neutral colourways using water-based inks and dyes – either in plain or in Vans’ famous chequerboard design.

The shoes feature canvas uppers made with 100% organically grown cotton, and the outsole is made from an all-new responsibly sourced natural rubber instead of petroleum-derived rubber, which comes from tree farms that follow ethical and sustainable practices to minimise harm to the ecosystem.

The outsole has been engineered to maintain the grip and durability for which Vans is known, and the laces have been crafted from natural jute fibre, while a natural cork top sheet finishes the footbed. The shoes are also held together with water-based glues.
