Urban Outfitters back in the black as UK sales grow

US fashion retailer Urban Outfitters defied the tough conditions on the UK high street and recorded a £5.9m profit in the year to January 2018 from its UK sales compared to a £2.7m loss in the prior year.
UK sales for Urban Outfitters and sister brand Anthropologie achieved combined UK sales up 10% to £206m, which it put down to more stores openings (it now has around 40 in the UK) and better online sales thanks to an increase in ranges available on its website.
Globally the brand, which was founded 48 years ago, has more than 240 stores and is valued at around £3.1bn, according to This Is Money.
