UNIQLO to donate to local charities every Tuesday in December

UNIQLO has announced a commitment to donate to local charities every Tuesday in December, referenced as "Every Giving Tuesday".

For every two HEATTECH products bought on any Tuesday in December, UNIQLO will donate a third one to Centrepoint, one of UNIQLO UK’s charity partners, to share with those who need it the most this winter.

Giving Tuesday is a movement born to create an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the Christmas in the US, as a response to commercialisation and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season.

Building on previous expansion and success of the Giving Tuesday initiative carried out last year in markets like Spain and Belgium, UNIQLO will expand and launch the donation scheme across the 9 European markets where UNIQLO is present.

Moreover, rather than focusing solely on the first Tuesday of December, UNIQLO has decided to donate to charities every Tuesday in December.

Earlier this year, the company announced it would will invite customers to bring their own used down products into stores to be donated or recycled. In return, customers will be given a coupon that can be spent both in-store and online.

More recently, UNIQLO has supplied Centrepoint with activewear and training kits to be worn in global sporting competitions including the annual Homeless World Cup football tournament.
