Westgate Oxford, the largest new retail and leisure destination in the UK this year, opened its doors to the public yesterday and with it so did the new UNIQLO store which the Japanese giant has described as a "significant milestone" in its UK expansion.

Most of UNIQLO's 10 UK stores are concentrated in London with the exception of stores in Kingston upon Thames in Surrey and Bluewater in Kent. The new 870 sqm Westgate store stocks UNIQLO’s LifeWear for men, women, children and baby, which includes its signature AIRism, HEATTECH, Cashmere and Ultra Light Down products, along with Premium Jeans and UT (UNIQLO T-shirts).

UNIQLO UK chief operating officer Satoshi Naito said: “The launch of UNIQLO Oxford represents another major milestone for us in the UK, as we continue to expand our presence in this important focus market for the company worldwide. We are very excited to be able to offer our UNIQLO LifeWear to the people of Oxford and the surrounding area for the first time.”

Other highlights at the 800,000 sq ft Oxford destination include the new 140,000 sq ft John Lewis store which is the first to feature the department store's new concierge-style customer service experience.
