UNIQLO and Theory to open new Regent Street store in vacant Superdry unit

Fast Retailing has announced plans for its UNIQLO and Theory brands to open a new store on London's Regent Street in Spring 2022.

Situated in one of the world’s most prestigious fashion and lifestyle destinations, the 1,900 square meter store represents the first time for the two apparel brands to occupy retail space in the same location in the UK and across Europe.

The new store will be located at 101-113 Regent Street and will be divided along three floors, with UNIQLO on the lower ground, ground and first floors and Theory on the ground floor.

The new location was previously occupied by Superdry, who closed its store earlier this month, having first opened in December 2011. Superdry is now considering a number of locations in the capital, with a number of empty units on Oxford Street being considered.

The company previously reported it was “substantially impacted” by COVID-19 disruption which resulted in store closures for large periods of the year.

Commenting on the announcement, Fast Retailing Chairman, President and CEO Tadashi Yanai said: “Regent Street and the United Kingdom hold a special significance to Fast Retailing. Regent Street was one of the first UNIQLO stores we opened outside our home market Japan, back in 2001. During these past twenty years we have raised our profile as a global apparel retailer, and in the UK market alone we now boast several stores.

“We look forward to welcoming customers to our new Regent Street store next spring, to explore the latest designs, innovations and services from UNIQLO and Theory.”

In addition, newly expanded head offices for the companies' European and Uk operations will be housed across three floors above the store. This will include for the first time an in-house press showroom for UNIQLO.
