Uniqlo and Theory owner achieves 'new record performance'

Chloe Burney
14 July 2025

Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo and Theory, has reported record-breaking results for the first nine months of fiscal 2025. Consolidated revenues reached 2.6 trillion yen (£13 billion), marking a 10.6% year-on-year increase.

The company's operating profit rose by 12.2% to 450.9 billion yen (£2.3 billion), while profit climbed by 8.4% to 339 billion yen (£1.1 billion).

Its strong third-quarter performance (March-May 2025) was led by robust results from Uniqlo operations in Japan, Europe, North America, Southeast Asia, India, Australia and South Korea.

Uniqlo International reported a revenue of 442.9 billion yen (£2.2 billion), up by 8.3%, and an operating profit of 72.1 billion yen (£360 million), up by 1.5%. In local currency terms, revenue was up approximately 14%, with profit up around 7%. South Korea, Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, India and Australia all contributed positively. However, revenue and profit declined in Mainland China due to subdued consumer appetite and unseasonably cool weather through early May.

GU's revenues reached 90.4 billion yen (£460 million), up by 4.1%, but its operating profit declined sharply by 12.1% to 12.4 billion yen (£63.2 million).

Global Brands, which include Theory and Comptoir des Cotonniers, saw third quarter revenue fall by 4.6% to 32.7 billion yen (£160 million), but operating profit increased by 35.1% to 1.9 billion yen (£9.6 million).

Fast Retailing has maintained its full-year forecast for fiscal 2025. It expects consolidated revenue to reach 3.4 trillion yen (£17.3 billion), up by 9.5% and operating profit to rise to 545 billion yen, up by 8.8%.

Looking ahead, Fast Retailing expects a "large increase in revenue and a rise in operating profit" with further growth in international markets, particularly in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia. Uniqlo Japan is also forecast to post higher revenue and profit for the full year, while GU is expected to grow revenue but see continued pressure on profit. However, Global Brands are expected to report a slight operating loss.
