UNIQLO and Roger Federer host youth tennis coaching event at The O2
UNIQLO and global brand ambassador Roger Federer hosted a coaching event for 20 young British tennis players at London’s The O2 Arena today (23 September), as part of the retailer’s Next Generation Development Program.
The event brought together junior players competing at national or international level, who received coaching and mentoring from Federer and his long-time coach Severin Lüthi. Former British tennis player Tim Henman also joined the session as a guest coach.

The programme included on-court coaching followed by a Q&A with Federer, giving participants the opportunity to hear about his experiences during his professional career. The day concluded with a photo session for the players.

“It was great to be back at The O2 here in London for the UNIQLO Next Generation Development program and spend time with so many talented young players today,” Federer said.
“I always enjoy sharing some of the experiences and lessons I learned throughout my career, and I hope they can take something from today that helps them both on and off the court. Most importantly, I hope they continue to enjoy the game, work hard and keep dreaming big.”
The event was held in partnership with Duke Meadows tennis academy and coincides with the ninth edition of the Laver Cup, which is taking place in London this week. UNIQLO is the official apparel sponsor of the competition, providing uniforms for on-site and on-court roles.
The event marks a return to The O2 for UNIQLO’s Next Generation Development Program with Federer, following an earlier London event focused on supporting young tennis players.
Koji Yanai, Group Senior Executive Officer at UNIQLO parent company Fast Retailing, said the programme aims to support young people through sport and help develop skills that can be applied beyond the court.
The Next Generation Development Program forms part of UNIQLO’s wider work with its Global Brand Ambassadors, using sport and mentoring to support young people and communities.
UNIQLO has worked with Federer as a Global Brand Ambassador since 2018, with the partnership extending across LifeWear, tennis and community initiatives.
