Uniqlo accelerates UK expansion with new store in Cambridge
Uniqlo is gearing to open a new 9,472 sq ft store at the Grand Arcade on St Andrew’s Street in Cambridge on 24 September 2026, as its regional expansion in the UK gathers pace.
Spread across two floors, the new store, which is the former Ted Baker unit, will feature Uniqlo’s new AW26 collection, including ‘Soufflé Yarn’ knitwear, the latest ‘Puffertech’ insulated outerwear, seamless down jackets and cashmere pieces, as well as a wide selection of women’s and men’s LifeWear essentials.
Alessandro Dudech, Chief Operating Officer of Uniqlo UK, said: “Cambridge has a real sense of character, and it is exciting to be opening in a city so steeped in history and culture.
“From its thriving student population and academic community to the many visitors who come from around the world, Cambridge is a dynamic city with a unique energy.
“We have been looking forward to opening here and becoming part of the community, and we are delighted to offer our LifeWear for the people who live, work and visit here.”
To celebrate the Grand Arcade store opening, Uniqlo will be offering a free goody bag to the first 300 customers who spend over £69.90 on the opening day.
There will also be the opportunity for app scan customers to win a trip to Tokyo by scanning the Uniqlo app with any purchase to be entered into the draw.
Uniqlo currently has 24 stores in the UK, with its store at Cabot Circus in Bristol – the retailer’s debut location in the South West – the most recent to open in April 2026.
Uniqlo will also soon be expanding its presence in the North West with a new 24,000 sq ft store at the Trafford Centre in Manchester this autumn, adding to its existing store at 57 Market Street in the city, which opened in the former BHS unit in April 2019.
Other upcoming new store locations will be at Canary Wharf in London, as well as one in Leeds in 2027, with more to be announced.
Last month, Fast Retailing, the Japanese retail group behind Uniqlo, raised its full-year operating profit forecast to ¥730 billion (£3.37 billion) after third-quarter earnings surged 45.7% year-on-year to ¥213.79 billion (£1.3 billion) for the three months to 31 May 2026.
