Umbro reunites with Nigel Cabourn for retro sportswear collection

Umbro has reunited with Nigel Cabourn for a second retro sportswear collection, following their first military-led rugby capsule for Fall/Winter 2021.

Inspired by vintage British Army recruit training gear and the Army Gymnastic Staff of Cabourn’s era, the nine-piece collection offers a range of styles which revitalises casual gym wear and uniform from the '40s and '50s for a modern audience.

Highlights from the second Umbro x Nigel Cabourn collection include Umbro’s popover Drill Top reimagined as the POH Training Top in loopback marl-grey cotton jersey, a zip-through Tracktop with matching logo-carrier pants and shorts.

The collection is underpinned by a selection of three short-sleeve polo shirts in dark navy, off-white, and washed army green, crafted in cotton Aertex fabric with a zip-to-collar elasticated waist and "UMBRO" felt applique lettering across the back.

Commenting on the collaboration, Nigel Cabourn said: "My first Umbro collab collection was a reference to the brand’s British sporting heritage as well as its connection with the rugby world.

"But with this second capsule I wanted to give Umbro the complete Cabourn seal of approval with a set of styles inspired by the Army Gym design personality which is so close to my heart."

The collaboration collection launches on 28 April 2022 at www.umbro.co.uk, www.cabourn.com, as well as select stockists.
