Macclesfield-based company Grant International has beaten off competition from five other firms to supply accessories for the forthcoming football tournament, the AFC Asian Cup 2019, taking place in the United Arab Emirates from 5 January – 1 February.

The account win is a landmark moment as it sees Grant International’s business move into the Asian market for the first time. The agreement means the North West-based company will provide corporate luggage and scarves for delegates, backpacks for ball boys and bags for match officials – all carrying the official tournament logo.

Grant International managing director, Jason Craven, said: “The tournament attracts sponsorship from major global brands such as Coca-Cola, Emirates, Toyota, TAG Heuer and Nikon, so this is a significant opportunity for us as a business. I hope this is the start of a long and successful relationship with the AFC and will put us in an extremely strong position for the 2023 tournament.”

Established in 1998, Grant International works with many of the leading names in the fashion industry to design, develop and manufacture accessories and footwear. With a client list that includes the likes of Barbour, Lyle & Scott, Ted Baker and Pretty Green, Grant International was recommended to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) due to its knowledge and expertise within the industry.

The imminent tournament is the 17th edition of the AFC Asia Cup, with 24 countries contending. Aside from hosts United Arab Emirates, they will include Australia, Japan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Korea Republic, China PR, Saudi Arabia, India and future hosts of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar.
