Two sisters launch Kimeze, a luxury eyewear brand specifically designed for Afro facial features

Sisters Clare and Christina Kimeze have launched Kimeze, a new luxury eyewear brand that has been created specifically to fit black faces.

Kimeze identified a significant gap in the market as most glasses and sunglasses are made to fit Caucasian features and, while there has been an “East-Asian fit” around since the 1980s, there is nothing specifically on the market for black people.

The Cat

Oxford graduates Clare and Christina had no previous expertise in fashion or eyewear – Clare worked in the city while Christina was and still is an artist – but they were motivated to launch their brand and to create choice for black consumers and in so doing so to redefine what is the “normal” fit.

The Oval

Hand crafted in Italy, the glasses come in three shapes – the Cat Eye, the Metal and the Oval – in a range of colours, which have been chosen specifically to suit a diverse range of black skin tones.

The collection is available at www.kimeze.com with prices starting at £250.
