Trouva appoints new chair as it expands further into Europe

Trouva, the online marketplace for independent retailers, has expanded further into Europe and appointed an ex-Uber executive as its new chair.

Following an expansion into Berlin earlier this year, which was its first move outside of the UK, Trouva has now added boutiques from Amsterdam, Madrid and Copenhagen. The business said it now offers a range of more than 100,000 products on its site.

Co-founder and CEO Mandeep Singh said: “At a time where the looming prospect of Brexit might be hanging over most UK-founded and based start-ups, it’s business as usual for us, and that means rapid growth.

“The number of our boutiques that have achieved over £100,000 in sales directly through Trouva.com has almost quadrupled from 11 to 42 in just 12 months, further extending our platform to the most amazing independents, run by great curators with a strong identity.”

The company also announced the appointment of former Uber and Betfair executive Niall Wass as non-executive director and chair. Wass has previously been on the executive team at Uber as senior vice president for the international business across 52 countries, and was chief commercial officer at Betfair from early stage through to its IPO.

His appointment follows on from Trouva's $10m Series A funding round last year, which was led by BGF Ventures, alongside Index Ventures and Octopus Ventures.
