Tristyle Group has acquired the brand rights to German women's fashion brand Basler, which was placed into liquidation in August of this year.

Basler Germany initially placed itself into voluntary administration in June of this year and was subsequently placed into liquidation in August, while its UK arm went into administration in September.

Tristyle Mode GmbH, which also owns brands German 45-plus women's brands PETER HAHN and MADELEINE Mode and the British fashion brand for tall women Long Tall Sally, which it acquired in August, announced today that it secured the brand rights for Basler for an undisclosed sum.

"The Basler brand has tremendously high appeal for the target group of discerning, fashion-conscious customers. With our product and sales expertise in this target group, we are determined to make the Basler brand an integral and above all successful part of the German fashion industry once again. As a first step, we will be supplying retailers with an outdoor collection for Autumn/Winter 2018. There will no longer be any Basler retail shops," said Tristyle managing director Stefan Kober.

Basler is an historic name in German fashion having been founded by the family of the same name in 1936, initially specialising in coats and jackets. It opened its first retail store in Hamburg in 1997 and its first store in London in 2007. It had been a popular wholesale brand for UK independents and department stores specialising in the 45-plus market.
