Trapstar enters strategic partnership with Footasylum to support expansion
Footasylum has announced a strategic partnership with British streetwear brand Trapstar, aimed at supporting the brand’s future growth and expanding its retail presence.
As part of the agreement, Trapstar’s founders - Mikey Aryee, Lee Langaigne and Will Thomas - will continue to lead the brand’s creative and design direction.
Footasylum will provide retail, operational and marketing support, with Trapstar products set to be introduced across selected Footasylum stores and online channels.
Trapstar co-founder and CBO, Will Thomas, said: “Trapstar is the culture. Partnering with Footasylum to take it global - better reach, bigger platform. This one’s for everyone who’s been here from the start - and everyone who’s about to find out.”
Founded in West London in 2006, Trapstar has evolved from an independent streetwear label into an internationally recognised brand. The company has built its profile through celebrity endorsements, brand collaborations and a direct-to-consumer business model. Its products are currently available through its own online platform and selected premium retail partners across the UK.
The partnership comes as Footasylum continues to invest in its growth strategy, including expansion in the DACH and Gulf regions, the opening of new and larger UK stores, and further investment in warehousing and logistics infrastructure.
It adds Trapstar to Footasylum’s portfolio of brands and reflects the retailer’s focus on the streetwear, sportswear and youth culture markets.
Footasylum CEO, Hannah Mercer, said: "Trapstar is one of the most iconic names to have come out of British streetwear. For more than two decades it has shaped culture, built a distinctive identity and earned a loyal following that extends far beyond the UK. It sits at the heart of fashion, music and culture, and its relevance to the consumers we serve made it a natural fit for Footasylum.
"Through labels such as Monterrain and Zavetti Canada, we have demonstrated our ability to build and scale brands that resonate with our audience, and we are confident that we can bring that same expertise, platform and investment to support Trapstar's next phase of growth. Mikey, Lee and Will have built something genuinely extraordinary and we are proud to be the partners who help them take it to the next level."
Trapstar co-founder and CEO, Mikey Aryee, added: “This is the right partnership at the right time. Hannah and the Footasylum team understand what we’re building. We’re focused on growing our product range, scaling our footwear collection which launched this year, and using Footasylum’s retail network to get it in front of the right people.”
