Toteme is reportedly expanding into menswear
Toteme, the Swedish contemporary fashion brand beloved for its minimalist aesthetic, is launching a menswear collection, Puck News has reported.
The brand was founded in 2014 in New York City by the Swedish husband-and-wife duo Elin Kling and Karl Lindman, gaining traction with an international clientele who covet the label's minimalist, Scandi-inspired "quiet luxury" staples.
The label has so far focused solely on creating women's ready-to-wear, shoes, bags, accessories and fine jewellery but, the brand is now reportedly branching out into menswear.
According to the digital media company Puck News, former Head of Design Menswear at Celine, Alexander Häggblad, has been working with Lindman to develop the new category, which will include ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories. It is scheduled to drop in August, according to Puck.
The brand describes its design philosophy as "a direct and decisive way of dressing", "realised with sumptuous fabrics, rich textures and graphic silhouettes".
On its website, it adds that: "with an appreciation for women’s many roles and how pieces are worn in practice, we create emblematic designs with an emphasis on materiality and shape."
It will be interesting to see how Toteme will translate its "archetype pieces", which include its best-selling embroidered scarf jacket, a version of which currently retails at £840, into a menswear range.

The brand currently operates two stores in London, one on 160 Sloane Street, and its flagship space on 12 Mount Street.
The brand is also internationally represented, with locations in Sweden, where the company is based, as well as Denmark, France, the US, China, Korea and Japan.
The news is as of yet unconfirmed, with Toteme declining to comment on the reports.
