Topshop to land on ASOS by end of September

Topshop will be available to buy on ASOS on 30 September, following news in May that Arcadia was finally allowing its flagship brand to be sold on the multi-brand e-commerce giant's site.

Topman has been available on the site since June with almost 200 items currently listed. The move follows last week's addition of Topshop and Topman to Shop Direct's Very.co.uk and Littlewoods.com sites.

Arcadia is in the midst of a restructure that will result in the closure of around 50 of its 500-plus UK stores and rent reductions on dozens of others, as part of a series of CVAs agreed with landlords and creditors in June. Last week the group saw off a final legal challenge to the plans from US landlords, objecting to the closure of its 11 Topshop and Topman stores in the country.

Speculation emerged over the weekend that Arcadia was beginning to decouple its brands, which also include Burton, Wallis, Evans, Miss Selfridge and Outfit, from central services such as IT, Finance and HR to make a future piecemeal sell off of the group easier.

The group has not commented on the reports but analysts suggest it makes sense as some brands, in particular Topshop and Topman, would be far more likely to sell as standalone entities than others in the group.

Topshop's arrival on ASOS looks to be a win-win for both companies as Topshop fans will be able to take advantage of ASOS's flexible delivery options and features such as student discounts and Topshop, in turn, should generate excitement and traffic for ASOS.
