Topshop teases relaunch as it welcomes new Managing Director
Topshop is preparing for a relaunch, exciting fans of the British fashion brand with three teaser videos posted on its Instagram alongside the message "watch this space".
Following the posts on social media, hundreds of comments have amassed with users eagerly anticipating the online brand's reveal, with many also asking for its return to the UK high street.
One user said "begging you reopen high street", while others posted "please say you’re opening stores again" and "still miss your Oxford Street store, spent hours in there".
The upcoming relaunch follows the appointment of Michelle Wilson as Managing Director of Topshop and Topman earlier this week, with plans to help them "thrive" as standalone brands.
In this role, Wilson will also manage the company's global wholesale business, which includes partnerships with Nordstrom in the US, Reliance Retail in India, and Bestseller in Europe.
It came as ASOS, which owns certain design and distribution rights to the brands, made a number of leadership changes.
The online marketplace promoted its SVP North America, Sean Trend, to Managing Director for the UK and US, as part of its strategy and customer-focused approach to driving growth.
Now moving to a geography-based structure to enable more tailored strategies at a local level, ASOS also appointed Jag Weatherley as Managing Director for Europe & Rest of World.
In October last year, ASOS completed the sale of Topshop and Topman to a joint venture led by Heartland, which represents ASOS shareholder Anders Holch Povlsen, for a 75% stake.
The remaining 25% stake is held by ASOS Holdings Limited, granting the fashion retailer certain design and distribution rights for Topshop and Topman in return for a royalty fee, allowing it to continue marketing and selling the two brands online.
