Topshop says 'watch this space' revealing new stockists amid revival
As Topshop fans await its upcoming return to the high street, the retailer has today unveiled that it'll be adding Printempts, Magasin and McElhinneys to its list of stockists.
A spokesperson for Topshop told TheIndustry.fashion: "Topshop is already stocked on ASOS and Nordstrom, we’re delighted to confirm we will stock in a range of partners across Europe and Rest of World territories, including Printempts, Magasin and McElhinneys."
This comes after Millennial-adored Topshop is awaiting its high street return. The retailer exited the high street after the collapse of its owner, Arcadia Group in late 2020.
In March 2021, ASOS purchased Topshop and Topman, the former jewels in the crown of the Arcadia empire, for £265 million. The deal involved the purchase of the brand and online business only, resulting in the closure of all of Topshop and Topman's physical retail stores. ASOS rolled the e-commerce sites into its own online platform. Although this kept the brand from fading into the abyss, it has arguably not been the same since.
In October 2024, ASOS sold Topshop and Topman to a joint venture led by Heartland, which represents ASOS shareholder Anders Holch Povlsen and his fashion business Bestseller. And just like that, Topshop is headed back to the high street; however, not how you'd expect.
While many expected a potential flagship comeback, Ramos Calamonte clarified: "I’m not talking about a standalone store. We haven’t ruled out anything. Of course not." While Topshop stores aren’t off the table long term, the immediate focus is on third-party retail distribution.
The wholesale move, which today's announcement confirmed, not only marks a new chapter for Topshop but also reflects a significant shift in strategy for ASOS, which historically operated as an online-only platform.
In May, the retailer started stirring up buzz about Topshop's return to the high street by stepping back into real-life retail with a one-day pop-up in partnership with dance label DEFECTED Records.
Chatter about its return was once again reignited when, last week, Topshop and modelling agency Wilhelmina London announced that they're on the hunt for models for its first catwalk show since September 2017. After an eight-year hiatus, and plentiful teasers that the beloved British brand is headed back to the high street, its runway show is back for Autumn/Winter 2025.
Tophop and Topman are asking fans old and new, from ages 18-35, to "Apply NOW for the chance to be selected and walk the runway!" The casting will be based in the brand's hometown of London and is seeking unsigned talent only, with submissions open from now until 4 August.
Although the Topshop spokesperson did not yet reveal where we'll be able to shop the brand in person just yet, they said: "Topshop and Topman will also return to UK stores for AW25 via a partner, still to be announced.
"Watch this space."
