Topshop is "taking a pause" from London Fashion Week

Topshop will not be showing its Unique collection at London Fashion Week this season as the retailer beds in a new senior team.

The Arcadia-owned business has confirmed in a statement that it will not be taking part in its own catwalk show however "[...] the brand remains committed to the development and support of emerging and established talent and will be hosting the Topshop Showspace".

This marks the first time in the 12 years since Topshop Unique made its London Fashion Week debut that it will now show on schedule. Despite being a high street brand its shows were one of the most hotly anticipated of the season, largely due to its celebrity pulling power with names such as Kate Moss, sister Lottie Moss and US Vogue's Anna Wintour often seen on the front row.

However the brand will continue to have a high profile during Fashion Week since its Topshop Showspace in Covent Garden it will be hosting some of the most anticipated shows of the seasons including House of Holland, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Nicopanda, Shrimps and Molly Goddard.

It also continues to support Lulu Kennedy's platform for emerging talent Fashion East, which will host names such as ASAI, Supriya Lele, Charlotte Knowles and Symonds Permain.

Last year Topshop underwent a wholesale change of guard at the head of the business, which was set off by the departure of long-standing managing director Mary Homer who left last spring to become CEO at premium fashion and lifestyle retailer The White Company.

Former chief merchandising officer of Burberry Paul Price was named CEO of both Topshop and Topman in July and shortly after David Hagglund joined Arcadia as creative director across both brands. Hagglund's arrival led to the departure of the creative directors of both Topshop and Topman, Kate Phelan and Gordon Richardson.

Finally in November Anthony Cuthbertson, who had most recently been with Just Cavalli but who had also completed stints at Victoria Beckham, Sass & Bide and Mulberry, was named as global design director.
