The creative directors of Topshop and Topman, Kate Phelan and Gordon Richardson, are to leave the business and will be replaced by one creative director across the two brands.

David Hagglund, founder of a Stockholm-based creative agency which counts H&M and Hugo Boss as clients and a former art director at Vogue Paris, has been appointed to the newly created role of creative director of both Topshop and Topman.

Hagglund's appointment comes shortly after former Burberry chief merchandising officer Paul Price was named as the new CEO of Topshop and Topman. Both Hagglund and Price will start their new roles on 4 September.

“The appointment of David Hagglund in the newly combined role continues to mark the start of a new era for Topshop Topman in moving both brands forward in their ongoing global expansion. I am delighted to welcome David, who will be joining Paul Price, our new CEO, on the same day and I look forward to working with them both to drive the business forward," said Sir Philip Green, owner of parent group Arcadia.

Phelan is a former creative director of British Vogue. She joined Topshop as global creative director in 2011 and later it was announced she would return to Vogue as a contributing editor while retaining her post at Topshop. Richardson has been chief creative at Topman for the past 17 years, he is one of the best known figures in the UK menswear market and a committee member for London Fashion Week Men's.

The latest reshuffle comes after former Topshop managing director Mary Homer announced her departure in March, after 30 years with the Arcadia group, to become chief executive of premium fashion and lifestyle business The White Company.
