TOD's releases capsule collection with Mame Kurogouchi

TOD's is to release a womenswear capsule collection with upcoming fashion designer Mame, as part of the brands ongoing T Factory project.

T Factory is a series of fashion collection “conversations” with creatives. The title is short for Tod’s Factory, referencing Andy Warhol’s famed art studio in Lower Manhattan, The Factory, back in the 1960's.

The T Factory project launched in 2018, with the goal to drop collections throughout every year, including capsules and limited editions.

Following collaborations with Alessandro Dell’Acqua in 2018 and Alber Elbaz in 2019, the brand has teamed with Maiko Kurogouchi for 2020, the designer behind Japanese label Mame Kurogouchi.

Mame’s approach to the collection is extremely personal; making an effort to try everything, with the aim to make sure the clothing is suitable for daily life.

Mame's T Factory capsule collection includes a selection of outerwear, shoes and bags, with Mame also creating her own take on Tod’s D- Styling bag.

Originally planned to be available in-store and online, the collection will debut in the UK online, with Tod's stores in the UK currently closed.

Tod's Chairman Diego Della Valle said in February that it had made an “excellent” start to 2020 before the coronavirus hit sales, but the situation could start to improve in the next few weeks.

“People are waiting, they’ve stopped. We expect that everything will begin again in a month and a half, that’s an impression we’re getting from the market,” he told reporters at Milan Fashion Week.
