TikTok launches “TikTok For Business”

TikTok has officially launched “TikTok For Business” offering businesses and retailers a range of marketing tools making the company a direct competitor to Snapchat and Instagram.

The new platform will allows brands to create their own ads and connect with influencers on the app.

TikTok For Business will offer retailers tools to design a range of adverts on the platform, including “TopView” ads which appear when the app is first launched, “Brand Takeovers” which are three to five-second-long video or image adverts, and a new augmented reality (AR) “Brand Scan” functionality.

Launched today, the new “Brand Scan” tool is in direct competition to Snapchat’s “Sponsored Lens” and “Word Lens” advertising formats.

Using this tool, TikTok users will be able to add interactive visual effects from brands into their videos which in result interacts with the physical environment around them.

Additional options include the “In-Feed” videos which can last up to 60 seconds and include sound, “Hashtag Challenges” which encourages users to connect with the user community around a hashtag selected.

This will also include a shopping feature called Hashtag Plus, navigating users to purchase items featured in the advertising campaign.

Although a number of these tools is already available to advertisers, TikTok For Business brings them all together on a new dedicated platform where additional new services can be added over time.
