The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced TikTok, the social media application for short-form videos, as the Principal Partner of The Fashion Awards 2021.

The BFC and TikTok will work together to evolve The Fashion Awards as a global entertainment platform, celebrating fashion's role at the intersection of culture. To deliver this new proposition, the event's format will change to include awards, performances and will highlight unique cultural moments from the past year.

The 2021 accolades include fifteen Leaders of Change; the designers, brands, creatives, and individuals who created positive change within the fashion industry this past year under three categories: Environment, People and Creativity.

The eagerly-anticipated Designer of the Year Award and the BFC Foundation Award will both have five nominees each and a winner, revealed on the night.

The Fashion Awards presented by TikTok will provide global streaming and platform amplification and bespoke content creation as well as deeper cultural connectivity, telling this year's stories that highlight the collaboration between fashion, music, film, art and technology. The iconic Fashion Awards Red Carpet will be a focal point, with TikTok bringing the experience and excitement to a global audience via a live broadcast, which will utilise the unique TikTok tools and features to drive real-time engagement.

Additional activations will include content from the event from some of the biggest TikTok Creators and exclusive backstage access to the Winners and Presenters of The Fashion Awards 2021.

Caroline Rush, BFC Chief Executive commented: “We are thrilled to welcome TikTok as the Principal Partner of The Fashion Awards 2021. Understanding the changing nature of fashion and leading the way in technology and innovation has always been at the heart of what the British Fashion Council does. As The Fashion Awards return on November 29th, we look forward to working with TikTok on expanding the event’s global reach, opening it up to new audiences and celebrating exceptional individuals and businesses that have made significant contributions to the global fashion community.”

Rich Waterworth, General Manager, TikTok Europe, added: “We are delighted to be the Principal Partner for The Fashion Awards. This iconic event and evening of entertainment will be LIVE streamed on TikTok, allowing our community to experience the magic of the Red Carpet like never before, as we take a moment to celebrate the very best of British and international fashion culture. This year fashion has thrived on TikTok, from our partnership with BFC NEWGEN which saw the future of British design talent come to TikTok to share their creativity, to the emergence of unique trends and style movements ignited by our creator community. Fashion really has found a home on TikTok.”
