Fashion resale start-up Thrift+ has achieved B Corp certification, scoring 82.4 on its assessment.

Administered by nonprofit B Lab, B Corp is one of the most demanding certifications that evaluates brands’ social and environmental impact. The certification covers over 300 questions on governance, workers, communities and impact on the environment.

Thrift+'s B Corp application featured evidence of its recent achievements, including over £2 million raised for charity through online resale, 400,000 items of clothing recirculated and 201,700kg of CO2 offset after conducting a carbon footprint assessment.

The brand is now part of a community of around 5,575 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The UK B Corp community represents over 950 companies, with brands including Patagonia, Chloé and Ganni.

Joe Metcalfe, Founder of Thrift+, said: “Becoming a B Corp means a lot to the whole Thrift+ team. Building a purpose-driven business is never easy and moments like this make all the hard work worthwhile. We are delighted to be recognised and plan to continue driving up standards across the business so that we are turning fashion into a force for good.”

Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Thrift+ to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies who are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that Thrift+ are going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
