We’re proud to be partnering with 2015’s Graduate Fashion Week for a pop-up series of mini talks lead by The Industry, our members and former speakers. The partnership is a collaboration between our managing director, Courtney Blackman and the director of Graduate Fashion Week, Martyn Roberts (also a member).
The idea is to give the Graduate Fashion Week audience a taster of what happens behind closed doors in fashion, and what better place to look than London’s premier members group for fashion professionals. “The Industry has built its reputation on iconic interviews and we’ve put together six of our finest members for The Industry’s GFW pop-up in June,” explains Courtney.
From the 30th of May to the 1st of June, The Industry will take residence at the event from 2:00pm. A cross-section of our finest members will sit down for live Q&As to discuss a host of topics from designer collaborations, how to attract buyers, what an editor looks for in a new label and the power and influence of blogging. Famed illustrator Daisy de Villeneuve and TANK’s Caroline Issa will be interviewed by Davina Catt and Navaz Batliwalla a.k.a. Disneyrollergirl respectively. Industry advisors, Frances Card and Lauretta Roberts will also come head-to-head.
“I’m very much looking forward to having Daisy, Davina, Caroline, Navaz, Frances and Lauretta back up on The Industry stage, offering unrivalled insight into the businesses upon which they have built their very successful careers,” adds Courtney. “The students of Graduate Fashion Week are the fashion professionals of the future and it’s an honour to offer them a glimpse into the world into which they are about to enter.”
Graduate Fashion Week director, Martyn Roberts says, “I’m a long standing member of The Industry and have attended many of its meetings over the years. I always come away from them inspired by the quality of its speakers and it’s a great pleasure to have some of these same faces takeover at GFW in June.”
