Despite announcing the closure of all of its retail stores, Opening Ceremony has announced a collaboration with footwear brand Teva for a three-style collection.

Taking inspiration from urban explorers, the collection features three limited-edition footwear styles in five colour schemes, inspired by "urban explorers" and designed with a "futuristic" aesthetic in mind.

The shoes will be released in three drops from March to April 2020, with the first release on 4 March 2020, the Opening Ceremony x Teva Hurricane Sock. The shoe is made from Lurex yarns, featuring a hook-and-loop closure with recycled polyester straps.

The other two styles from the collaboration, the Flatform Universal and the Hurricane XLT2 Gladiator, are due to be released in the upcoming weeks.

Teva’s General Manager, Anders Bergstrom, said in a statement: "We’re thrilled to partner with Opening Ceremony for the fourth time on a limited-edition collection. We are honoured to work with Opening Ceremony to bring three revolutionary styles to life. This collection is truly innovative and radical.”

The Hurricane Sock is available in black and green and will be available on both Teva and Opening Ceremony’s online stores, Opening Ceremony's remaining retail locations, and select retailers globally.

Humberto Leon, Opening Ceremony Co-founder, added: "When Opening Ceremony first teamed up with Teva in 2014, Carol and I were excited to partner with such an iconic brand that we loved when growing up in California, exploring the outdoors. With this collection, we wanted to continue taking Teva’s innovative, functional designs to create something even bolder than we had before."
