Ted Baker signs for new store at Merry Hill shopping centre

Ted Baker has signed for a new 2,500 sq ft store at Merry Hill shopping centre in the West Midlands, set to open later this year.

The new store will stock the brand’s full range of womenswear, menswear, footwear and accessories, and will be located on the upper level between luxury jewellers Goldsmiths and Beaverbrooks, the latter having recently committed to a significant upsize at Merry Hill.

The signing of Ted Baker by shopping centre commercial asset and development managers Sovereign Centros takes Merry Hill to almost 140,000 sq ft of new or enhanced space in 2022.

Ted Baker will complement a strong line-up of other fashion brands that have committed to the upper level of the shopping destination this year, including Kurt Geiger which opened a 2,000 sq ft store, and Dune which trades from a 1,600 sq ft space. Superdry also renewed the lease on its 10,000 sq ft store.

Graeme Jones, Director at Sovereign Centros, said: “The signing of Ted Baker to Merry Hill is a great moment for the destination, and is yet another premium brand to commit. Positioned alongside the likes of Kurt Geiger, Dune and a soon to be upsized Beaverbrooks, this is another vote of confidence in Merry Hill that reinforces its position as one of the leading destinations in the UK.”

Last month, Ted Baker agreed a £211 million takeover by Authentic Brands Group, the US owner of major fashion and apparel brands such as Reebok, Nautica, David Beckham and Juicy Couture.
