Ted Baker appoints former Sports Direct CFO to its board
Ted Baker has continued with the re-shaping of its top team with the appointment of former Sports Direct CFO Jon Kempster as non-executive director.
Kempster joins as Ron Stewart, senior independent director, steps down. Kempster will take on the role of Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee immediately and will also join the Remuneration committee, while Helena Feltham assumes the role of senior independent director.
As well as his time as Sports Direct, Kempster's career has included Board positions at Delta plc, Fii Group plc, Linden plc, Low & Bonar plc, Utilitywise plc and Wincanton plc. He has been a non-executive director and Audit Committee Chair at Redcentric plc since January 2017 and is a Trustee of the Delta plc pension scheme.
He arrives following a shake-up of the board last week when both chairman David Bernstein and CEO Lindsay Page stood down following its fourth profits warning of the year.
As a result of their departure, chief financial officer Rachel Osborne, who recently joined the business from Debenhams, moved in to the CEO role on an interim basis, and the search for a new CEO will commence in January 2020. Sharon Baylay was appointed as acting chair.
