Several prominent UK fashion retailers including Ted Baker and Whistles have joined new #SaveShops initiative, aiming to increase awareness of safe ways to shop on the high street in the festive season.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the high street, stores have been adapting their services to ensure consumers can continue to shop safely, implementing new technology and services.

The website promotes different multichannel services such as click and collect, home delivery and personal shopping appointments, with website visitors able to filter retailers by services provided.

16 fashion brands and retailers are publicly listed on the site already including Ted Baker, Whistles, Hobbs, Crew Clothing, Jigsaw, Mint Velvet and Accessorize.

The project was launched by OneStock, a company which provides retailers with management systems for orders.

Helen Costello, Group Commercial and Business Development Director at Ted Baker, said: "As our industry continues to face challenges in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that British retailers come together to ensure our customers can shop safely and our stores can stay open.

"Ted Baker fully supports the #SaveShops initiative. Working together, we can protect the High Street and the livelihoods of those working directly in retail, as well as those employed in the wider economy that we all depend on."

Helen Williamson, Retail advisor, Former Manager Director at Whistles, added: I’m proud to support the #SaveShops movement. Having enjoyed a lifetime working in retail myself, we must now come together to support our local shops and protect the livelihoods of all our shop workers."
