TALA CEO Morgan Fowles exits activewear brand amid retail expansion

Morgan Fowles, the Chief Executive of Grace Beverley's activewear brand TALA has stepped down from the business, just weeks after the company announced plans to scale its physical retail footprint.

Fowles, who joined Tala in May 2021 after roles at menswear brand Spoke and shirtmaker Thomas Pink, has left the business. According to Companies House, she resigned on 13 January.

The company told The Times: "We can confirm that Morgan is no longer employed by TALA. The business is currently experiencing a record-breaking revenue year, whilst remaining profitable and outperforming industry benchmarks for growth, alongside opening two new central London TALA stores."

Fowles added: "The last 12 months have been particularly exciting, seeing all our hard work come to life. I’m stepping down as CEO but remain its biggest fan, and am very excited for what the company will continue to achieve over the next 12 months and beyond."

The leadership change comes as TALA continues to balance strong top-line growth with increased investment. It reported a 19% increase in revenue to £19.8 million for the year ended 31 March 2025, up from £16.8 million the previous year, as the business accelerated wholesale expansion and prepared to scale its physical retail footprint.

The brand, which is sold direct-to-consumer as well as via retail partnerships with ASOS and Selfridges, recorded gross margins of 58%. However, the operating result swung to a loss of £1.9 million, compared with a £104,000 profit the year before, reflecting continued investment across the business.

During the year, TALA completed a £4.6 million Series B fundraising at parent company level and transitioned to a new third-party logistics provider. Wholesale emerged as a standout growth driver, performing eight times higher than the previous year following the onboarding of new partners, while social media growth continued to underpin brand momentum, with Instagram and TikTok followers increasing by more than 115,000.

Tala also took its first steps into bricks-and-mortar retail, opening its debut London store in Carnaby Street in May 2025, followed by a second location at Westfield London in November. The brand has said it plans to open additional stores over the next three years, aligning its physical retail rollout with its online growth strategy.

The departure of Fowles marks a significant moment for the brand as it enters the next phase of its growth, with further store openings, wholesale expansion and international strategy still firmly on the agenda.
