Sweaty Betty promotes Julia Straus to role of CEO

Premium activewear brand Sweaty Betty has promoted Julia Straus to the role of chief executive as co-founder and former CEO Simon Hill-Norton steps into the role of chairman.

Straus has been with the brand since July of last year as managing director and prior to that was CEO at skincare brand Tula. She has also held senior roles at Baublebar and Popsugar and is a graduate of Harvard Business School.

She has been charged with driving the company's international and digital growth. The brand's co-founder and chief creative officer Tamara Hill-Norton, said of the appointment: “Julia shares our vision of empowering women to look and feel amazing while living an active life.”

Sweaty Betty was founded in London in 1998 and has been at the forefront of the global athleisure trend and has also been a pioneer in experiential retail offering fitness classes and events in its stores. The business now operates 60 stores in the UK and the US and achieved revenues of around £48m in the year to December 2017.
