Sustainable shopping platform Farleigh.io celebrates Earth Day with official launch
London-based conscious, sustainable social shopping platform Farleigh.io has officially launched, allowing users to buy, sell and curate items through virtual shop windows.
Similar to Pinterest, but shoppable - the platform has a similar business model to second-hand clothes app Depop, focusing on a similar Gen-Z audience, targeting preloved but sustainably designed products from small to medium size independents.
Shoppers can discover items off a shoppable news feed, save to lists and make purchases. Similar to Depop's conditions of sale, Farleigh.io will take 10% of each profile-to-profile transaction.
Both the impacts of COVID-19 and the rising popularity of e-commerce has generated an abundance of new shopping platforms and marketplaces that allow anything to be sold by anyone, anywhere ill.
Founded in 2020 by Farleigh Hungerford and initially launching as an invitation-only platform, the new sustainable marketplace comes as a reaction to the fast fashion waste, mass production and onslaught deadstock Hungerford experienced in setting up her previous venture.
Commenting on the new business, Farleigh Hungerford said: “I want to help build a future which is greener, fairer, healthier, more resilient and more innovative than ever before.
