Superdry has appointed John Smith, formerly of Burberry, and Dennis Millard, formerly of Debenhams, to its board as non-executive directors.

Smith was COO of Burberry until June of this year while Millard, who is currently chairman of Halfords and deputy chairman and senior independent director of Pets at Home, was a senior independent director at Debenhams until January 2017.

Millard will be appointed to the Nomination and Remuneration Committees and Smith will join the Remuneration and Audit Committees. Both appointments are effective from 1 February when current senior independent director Keith Edelman steps down from that role. Edelman will remain as a non-executive director and will step down from the Audit Committee on 31 March 2018.

Superdry chairman Peter Bamford said he was delighted to welcome Millard and Smith to the board. "They both bring skills and experiences which will strengthen the Board and help deliver the next stage of our growth strategy and progress towards becoming a global digital brand.

"Dennis has extensive PLC board experience including roles as Chairman and Senior Independent Director of major retail companies. John has had direct experience of building global brands and developing digital capabilities in the fashion and creative industries," Bamford said.
