Superdrug introduces new quiet shopping hour

Superdrug is launching a new quiet hour in its UK stores, which will be implemented every Sunday for the first hour its stores are open.

Starting 5 December, the initiative aims to improve Superdrug's shopping experience for all customers.

Loud and busy environments can be challenging for some individuals, especially those who are autistic or have other neurological differences.

The beauty retailer hopes its quiet hour will create a safer and more inclusive shopping experience for customers who may need this quieter, calmer environment to shop in.

During the quiet hour, the store radio will be turned off and staff will consider their volume when communicating. Where possible, some stores may also offer a quiet room, allowing people the time and space time to process information in a less stimulating environment.

Superdrug worked closely with the disability network steering group internally on this initiative.

The retailer is bringing in the Quiet Hour initiative as an extension of its Be Kind Shop Kind campaign, which launched in 2020.
