Streetwear re-commerce platform Responsible launches circular buy-back service with Raeburn

Streetwear re-commerce platform RESPONSIBLE has partnered with RÆBURN on the launch of its new Buy-Back service that allows customers to easily access the circular economy by having the option to sell back products for store credit.

Christopher Raeburn's sustainable label RÆBURN is the first brand partner that will introduce the Buy-Back scheme on its website, which will go live on the website on Monday 29 November.

The new plug-in feature will also launch on RESPONSIBLE's own streetwear resale platform, with future brand partners, who can integrate the technology directly into their online stores, set to be announced soon.

The plug-in solution will allow RÆBURN customers to have the option at check-out to sell items back at the end of their life for a pre-determined price that is redeemable with the brand and on Responsible.us, as credit.

Once a customer has opted-in to the service they have the option to return an item they bought at Responsible.us or a partner brand. It will then be cleaned using ozone and UV light technology, mended and authenticated as needed and put up again for sale on the streetwear re-commerce platform.

Items that are not suitable for resale are recycled or up-cycled.

It is the world's first streetwear resale service authenticated Buy-Back program, according to RESPONSIBLE.

"By offering a genuine incentive for both brand and customer, RESPONSIBLE serves as a catalyst for change, driving streetwear towards a better, sustainable and more accessible future," it added.

RESPONSIBLE founder and CEO, Mark Dowds commented, “Of the billions of items of clothing produced each year, only 5-7% of clothes are sold for a second time. RESPONSIBLE’s reimagining for the circular streetwear economy provides the framework for shoppers and brands of all sizes to easily engage in circular fashion. We believe reusing clothes is the most impactful thing we can all do to make fashion more sustainable and the streetwear sector is poorly serviced by the options available today. Our re-Commerce store and Buy Back format offers a truly elevated experience for shoppers, and we believe this to be a pivotal step forward in delivering circularity in the streetwear industry.”

RESPONSIBLE was founded in 2021 by Mark Dowds and Mitchell Doust with a mission to introduce streetwear to the circular economy by launching a re-commerce platform for premium labels.
