Strathberry secures new investment to accelerate international expansion
Scottish leather goods brand Strathberry has secured a minority investment from Soho Square Capital as it looks to drive further international expansion.
Soho Square took a minority stake in the business alongside its capital investment, enabling Strathberry founders Guy and Leeanne Hundleby to remain in control of the Edinburgh-based company, while Soho Square Director David Steel will join the brand's board.
The amount invested was not disclosed.
"This investment marks an incredibly exciting chapter for Strathberry," the co-founders said.
"Since founding the business, our ambition has always been to build a global brand with a distinct point of view, while staying rooted in our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship, creativity and thoughtful design. This partnership gives us the opportunity to accelerate that vision and invest in the next phase of our growth."
North American retail expansion
Strathberry will be drawing on Soho Square's capital, expertise and support its next phase of global expansion, with a particular focus on North America, which is already its largest market globally.
Beyond the core markets of the UK and North America, the brand has also seen continued demand from both the APAC and Middle East markets and across newer regions, including Australia and Germany.
Steel commented: "Guy, Leeanne and the team have created something special, and there is significant scope to grow the business further, particularly internationally."
Strathberry currently operates four UK stores across London and Edinburgh, ships to more than 100 countries and works with selected wholesale partners worldwide.
Revenue rises 35%
Strathberry saw revenue of £36.4 million in the year to 30 April 2025, a jump of 35% year-on-year, with international expansion cited as a key factor including a “tenfold” increase in its wholesale business in Japan.
The company subsequently said it was on track to reach £50 million in revenue for the year to April 2026.
BGF exits after growth period
The transaction marks the exit of previous investor BGF, which invested £8 million in the company in 2022. Strathberry’s revenue increased more than fivefold during its partnership with the growth capital investor.
Founded by the husband-and-wife team in 2013, Strathberry designs its collections in Scotland and produces its leather goods in Spain.
