Strathberry adds second store in its home city of Edinburgh

Fast-growing Scottish accessories brand Strathberry has opened its fourth retail store close to home, on the independents’ haven of Victoria Street, Edinburgh.

Situated only 1.5  miles from Strathberry’s elegant townhouse head office, the new space at 4 India Buildings on Victoria Street reflects Strathberry’s successful mantra of “accessible luxury”.

A popular visitor destination in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town, Victoria Street is a steep, curving thoroughfare that links George IV Bridge with Grassmarket. Strathberry’s latest store – described by the company as “exuding a contemporary yet heartfelt charm” – embraces the architectural attributes of the listed property, reintroducing an existing arch feature and period details, such as architrave and skirtings. A traditional Scottish cast iron fireplace, specially sourced by the brand founders Guy and Leeanne Hundleby from a local salvage, was reinstated in the unit.

The design concept was executed in collaboration with London-based DRAW Creative Design, to bring to life the concept of the Strathberry Lounge, harmoniously blending clean contemporary design with Scottish heritage.

In their interview with TheIndustry.fashion in November 2024, Leeanne said she felt they could improve the experience in their stores and Victoria Street is the latest refinement. A showcase for more than just product, the Strathberry Lounge is decorated with a selection of books, decorative and locally-sourced objects, conveying a sense of home and warmth.

Leather swatches display the wide range of colour options from the brand and the personalisation area allows for bespoke product, which can be customised with embossing or creative handbag styling with Strathberry’s silk twill scarves. For the opening, Strathberry has produced an exclusive silk scarf featuring an intricate print that celebrates the distinctive architecture of Victoria Street.

Reinforcing Strathberry’s craftsmanship story, sustainability underpins all aspects of the design process. Highly recyclable materials such as natural cork wall panelling are showcased in subtle yet considered accents - all sourced through the most sustainable forestry practices. The bespoke feature tables from UK-based sustainable champion Marmo Lusso, a carbon-neutral enterprise that sources repurposed wood and marble off-cuts, reducing landfill waste.

Textile artworks commissioned by Strathberry from local artist Hayley McCrirrick show beautiful landscape abstracts that are framed in locally-sourced Scottish oak to frame the artwork further roots the piece to Scotland.

Husband-and-wife team Guy and Leeanne Hundleby established Strathberry in Edinburgh in 2013. The Victoria Street store complements the original store on Multrees Walk in Edinburgh and the London stores in Burlington Arcade and Covent Garden.
